The territory is a part of a region with a luvisol process of soil formation. The effect of the bedrock as a soil formation factor is very strong. Rendzina soil or calcareous cambisols have formed on the limestone bedrock, but remnants of fossil soils formed during the tropical Tertiary period, the so-called ‘Terra Rosa’ can also be found. Podzolic soil can be found on the alluvial terraces and on the acidic bedrocks (slate, silicate) – brown ranker or less-developed cambisols can be found. In small areas Gleysol can also be found.
