The climate in Český kras is mildly warm to warm with mild winters and a mean annual temperature of 8 – 9°C. The area is relatively dry with a mean annual precipitation of 530 mm. Little precipitation falls in winter, and the snow cover is low and doesn’t usually last long. Part of the precipitation infiltrates the soil and seeps into unconnected karst fissures and flows underground until it drains into the Berounka river. The PLA territory is classified as an area with an increased long-term flow of underground water.
